Prose from the Pros #12: Neruda

Here is another poem from Pablo Neruda. I carried this one around in my pocket on April 14th for Poem in Your Pocket Day to celebrate National Poetry Month. Enjoy! The Morning is Full By Pablo Neruda The morning is full of storm in the heart of summer. The clouds travel like white handkerchiefs of good-by, the wind, traveling, waving them in its hands. The numberless heart of the wind beating above our loving silence. Orchestral and divine, resounding among the trees like a language full of wars and songs. Wind that bears off the dead leaves with a quick raid and deflects the pulsing arrows of the birds. Wind that topples her in a wave without spray and substance without weight, leaning fires. Her mass of kisses breaks and sinks, assailed in the door of the summer's wind.

Prose from the Pros #8: G is for Gates

This poem reminds me of  my grandmother. Enjoy! niralon.wordpress.com Beautiful Hands By Emma M. H. Gates SUCH beautiful, beautiful hands, They're neither white nor small; And you, I know, would scarcely think That they were fair at all. I've looked on hands whose form and hue A sculptor's dream might be, Yet are these agéd wrinkled hands Most beautiful to me. Such beautiful, beautiful hands! Though heart were weary and sad These patient hands kept toiling on That the children might be glad. I almost weep when looking back To childhood's distant day! I think how these hands rested not When mine were at their play. Such beautiful, beautiful hands! They're growing feeble now, And time and pain have left their mark On hand, and heart and brow. Alas! alas! the nearing time-- And the sad, sad day to me, When 'neath the daisies, out of sight, These hands must folded be. But, oh! beyond the shadowy lands, Where all is bright and fair, I know full well these d...

HAPPY POETRY MONTH! lyrics.wikia.com "One and Only" You've been on my mind, I grow fonder every day, Lose myself in time, Just thinking of your face, God only knows why it's taken me so long to let my doubts go, You're the only one that I want, I don't know why I'm scared, I've been here before, Every feeling, every word, I've imagined it all, You'll never know if you never try, To forgive your past and simply be mine, I dare you to let me be your, your one and only, Promise I'm worth it, To hold in your arms, So come on and give me a chance, To prove I am the one who can walk that mile, Until the end starts, If I've been on your mind, You hang on every word I say, Lose yourself in time, At the mention of my name, Will I ever know how it feels to hold you close, And have you tell me whichever road I choose, you'll go? I don't know why I'm scared, 'Cause I've been here before, Every feeling, every word, I...
